Reason to Smile….

12 Nov

Hi Everyone….  I apologize for my sporadic posting lately, I’ve been really lazy about crafting this past couple of weeks but hopefully I have my mojo back and I can settle in to get organized and hopefully get a start on my Christmas cards.  I have a card to share with you today using the lovely Stampin’ Up Reason to Smile stamp set that my friends Leslie and Pat gifted me with.  I have made cards like this before but I really love this layout so I had to make some more so that I could have them for my stash….

At first I wasn’t sure about the purple and yellow together but once I put the card together I find that it looks very fresh and pretty.  I liked it so much I made a couple of them as birthday cards as well.  I am not working today because it’s a holiday, Remembrance Day and I am busy getting my chores done in preparation for going back to work tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a great day and thanks for stopping by!

JustRite Challenge…

3 Sep

Good Evening Blog Friends…. I’ve been so busy today!  I am going to be Maid of Horror in my best friend’s wedding on Saturday so I have been busy primping (which is SO NOT me!) LOL!!! I actually managed to dye my hair and no lives were lost in the process!!  Now with the grey hair out of the way all I have to do is EVERYTHING else!!  *sigh*  toes, nails, brows… OMG!  Men have it so easy! LOL!!

Okay enough of my whining!  I have SOOO missed playing along with challenges this summer.  Over at JustRite they are asking us to do a fancy fold and ohhhh how I love me a fancy fold!  Here’s what I came up with….

This one is called an Upright Z-Fold Card and it was super fun to make!  Easy too!  Gotta love that!  Here’s a look at the front…

For this card I used the JustRite Vintage Rose Medallions stamp set.  Beautiful huh?  I picked this stamp set up at The Cutting Garden (of course) LOL!!!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic evening and thanks so much for stopping by!

Just Playing Around….

27 Apr

My Mojo is on vacation these days…. I can’t seem to jump start it either?  Oh well *shrug* I’m sure it will sort it self out eventually.  I have a ton of half finished projects in front of me and I have been fixated on trying to finish them and I can’t seem to get anywhere with them so I tipped them all in the garbage and cleaned off my work surface.  *sigh of relief*  That feels better! LOL!!!  Here’s a cute little set of cards I made playing around with the Stampin’ Up! Elegant Lines embossing folder that Kim from The Cutting Garden was so kind to lend to me….

These were super easy to put together and quick as well!  I love to make quick and easy cards these days… I have been making sets lately for some reason.

Thanks so much for visiting!

Weekly Alphabet Challenge – Letter A…

4 Jan

Hello Blog Friends!  I searched my craft room and couldn’t come up with a stamp that was appropriate for this challenge.  In truth, I’m not much of a stamper, it’s all about the decorating for me I’m afraid ;)  Check this out….

This card screams ABUNDANCE to me!  (Thanks Lynn!) You pulled me out of the fire on this one!!! I’m gonna call it my Abundance of Butterflies, Bows and Bling Card!!!  I am supposed to come up with a story using a lot of A words.  *sigh*   Here’s all I got…

After all Anthony alliterated, as an admirable axiom after all acceptable avenues are attempted, adapt, accede, and accept always applies! It’s not a story but it’s a good Motto!  (Thanks Tony!)  *shrug*  I’ll try to do better next time! ;)

Here’s a look at the whole card….

Hope I don’t get kicked out of the challenge for this one! LOL!!!

Have a good evening!!!

Lisa :)

The Sweet Stop Entry – SSS16

13 Jul

Hi Again!  I have been peeking around at different challenge blogs and I came across The Sweet Stop blog http://sweetstopsketches.blogspot.com/2011/07/sss116-july-9.html  and they had a fun Sketch Challenge that I thought I would have a go at.  This is only the second time I have ventured outside of SplitCoast Stampers and entered into a challenge.  The last one that I entered seemed to be well received so I thought I would give it another try, it is so much fun!

Here is the card I am entering:

For this card I used the Martha Stewart Double Arches Punch around the Page.  The flowers are a digi stamp called Stitched Bloom from Designed2Delight and I added a couple of pretty buttons for the centers and some Star Dust Stickles around the edges.  Here is a closer shot of the flowers, hopefully you can see that I have popped one up…

There are seven layers on this card…. Eight if you count the buttons LOL!

My husband’s comment, when he saw the card was “It looks like a migraine”.  Nice huh? ;)

He did say that his opinion is so irrelevant, it doesn’t even register :)

I couldn’t have said it better myself! LOL!

Have a great day!

Lisa :)

Congrats for Joan!

10 Jul

Our friend Joan at work is retiring and we are all going to miss her so much!  I was asked to make a special card for her for everyone to sign and after three attempts, this is what I came up with:

I used Stampin’ Up – Printed Petals and heat embossed the flowers with bright white.  The sentiment is also from Stampin’ Up.  I added some bling and some brads and used the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Eleven for the sentiment.  Here’s another view:

Hope you like it!

8th Challenge….

4 Jul

Okay, I have been looking for a reason to attempt making a card using this butterfly using blue and this was my opportunity!  The challenge was to make a card using white and 2 or more shades of blue….  here is my entry:

Again the butterfly stamp is from Inkadinkado – Gem Stone Insects.  I added stickles to the butterfly to make it shimmer but unfortunately you can`t see it in the picture.

Hope you like it!

SplitCoast Free 4 All Friday Challenge….

17 Jun

This weeks free for all challenge on SplitCoast is to case a friend’s card.  Well I am quite new to SplitCoast so I am a bit of a ‘Billy No Mates’ but I have managed to make one friend!  I cased the lovely gallery of my new friend Cindy, aka YLM.  Here is her beautiful card that I chose to case:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1692278?&si=ylm   And here is what I came up with!

As you can see I changed up the colors a bit and I used this image from Fred She Said and added some stickles to the flower (I really think I am addicted to stickles!   I also used different embossing folders.  Thanks so much for the wonderful inspiration Cindy!!

Another Clean and Simple Card…

13 Jun

I made this card for Monday’s SplitCoast Clean and Simple challenge.  The colors I used were Mellon Mambo and Daffodil Delight from Stampin’ Up and another lighter pink that I used out of my endless pile of scraps.  The butterfly and flower punches I used are made by  EK Success.

Note Cards….

1 May

Ok this one I think I will pick as one of my favorites! 7 layers of paper!  I love the black background.  I think I would like to make a series of this type of card in different colors.  It is too pretty to put a sentiment on because I don’t want to limit it’s use.  I think this card would be good for any occasion :)  The only stamp I used is the little $1.29 flower stamp I picked up from Carsand Mosher.  Love It!! :)  I used the Cuttlebug polka-dot embossing folder in my Big Shot for the white background and I used a Recollections edge punch for the bottom of the black border.  I am really happy with how this turned out.  There was a lot of measuring and cutting involved in making this card but it was worth the work! Hope you like it!  I would love to hear your comments :)
