Good Times….

Hello!  We had a wonderful day here yesterday…  My friends came over for a BBQ to celebrate my daughter Vicki’s birthday  It was a great opportunity to snap some nice pictures of everyone…..  I am sure my friends will growl at me for posting their pictures on my blog but that’s just too bad! LOL!!!  It was such a great day to hang out on the deck and have a few laughs and of course eat!!

This is Carol…. I had to post this picture first… It is an absolutely fantastic picture of her!  I LOVE IT!!  She is going to kick my butt for posting it LOL!

Isn’t that great!?  LOL!!!  I made this ice cream cake for Vicki….  it literally took about 10 minutes to make!  I don’t think I will ever make a regular cake again!

Altered Bird House….

Good Morning!  Happy Friday to you all!  I have a couple days off work this week and finally have managed to get my crafty fix!  I spent last night skyping with my lovely friend Lauren and as usual we had a blast!  I stayed up WAYYY too late but oh well, it was well worth it!  She inspired me to make this…..

The weather isn’t great here in Halifax today so there is no pretty sunshine to add to my photo.  I wanted to take the picture outside because I prefer the natural lighting rather than my light box that sits in my craft room.  I used a couple of pages from my DCWV The French Country Stack paper pad because I love the glittery effect the paper has and it coordinates so well.

I only have one teeny tiny bird die so I had to hunt through some older paper pads to find this little bird to add to my project.  I made lots of hand made flowers and added some purchased ones as well and of course, lace and ribbon!

I wanted to give the roof lots of dimension so I used my scalloped circle punch to make the cut little shingles then added more flowers.  I am totally in love with this project.  It was SO MUCH FUN to make!!

Don’t you think this would make just the sweetest housewarming gift?  I absolutely adore it!  Thanks Lauren for giving me the push to give this project at try!!

I might be sorry for making this statement but I am tempted to do a tutorial on this project!  Tony has been gently nudging me to do a video with my new camera. He loves playing around with that thing and I think he would have fun playing Director! LOL!  He is so sweet and helpful like that.  This project might be a bit long for a video but I will have to think on it  Anyway….

Altered Box…

Good Morning Blog Friends!

A co-worker asked me to make an altered box and card for a gift for her aunt.  She asked for dark wood and purple and I was unsure how this would turn out but in the end, I really like it!

I just used regular craft paint and water to stain the wood and then put a healthy layer of sealer over top of it, once it dried and then started decorating.

I really enjoyed making this project.  I think I would like to make another one this weekend! Kim recently got some amazing buttons in at The Cutting Garden and I used one in the center of my flower for my card.  Love It!!!

Canvas….

Good Morning!  It is a VERY rainy Saturday here in Halifax, we are expected to get 50 ml of rain today so it is a good day to spend inside and get some crafting done.  I made this canvas about a week ago while crafting with my friend Lauren on Skype.  I had to make something as an example for a co-worker who was bringing her family over to my place for craft day.  Lauren of course is always up for a challenge and she dove right in and made one herself!  Her canvas turned out much nicer than mine!  She will post hers shortly and you should check it out!  Here is the link to Lauren’s Blog   Lauren and I always have such a good time crafting together  Okay, enough gab, here is my canvas…

My Craft Room… always a work in progress….

Good Afternoon Crafty Friends…

I am so fortunate to have an entire room devoted to my crafting.  Tony has helped me this weekend to do a bit of organizing and I promised my crafty friends from The Cutting Garden to take some pictures so here goes.  Please don’t take note of the dust bunnies… We have 2 dogs and 2 cats that live in this house with us  I like my pets way more that I like immaculate floors!

There is a reason I very rarely let my husband into my craft room…..

These are the flowers my lovely boss gave to me for Easter… I had to snap a picture of them!I have pretty much exhausted all wall space in this room…  These are my much loved shelves…  also pretty much full to capacity!

And this next one was where it got a bit dicey with Tony yesterday *giggle*  He started to count my punches to see how many curtain rods I would need to hold them all.  Let’s just say, he gave up when he realized I had more than one drawer of them!  This wall of punches emptied out one of my punch drawers….  I know, I know!  I am hanging my head in shame here! LOL!!! The other side of the room is still too messy to share with you…. next time LOL!!!

And the motto of this story is…  Martha Stewart punches are Damned Addictive!!!!

Girls Day Out…..

Good Afternoon!  I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday.  Today was a glorious day in Halifax, not too cold for a change!  We took advantage of the beautiful weather and took the girls to the park!!!

I was really looking forward to getting outside to play with my new camera.  Sasha and Lacy were my first models!  They had a great time but the park was so wet and muddy, their feet were filthy when we got home!

I still have no idea what I am doing with this camera, but it is really fun trying to figure it out!

You Can Do it Challenge….

Good Evening!  This week I am hosting the You Can Do It challenge over on SplitCoast Stampers.   There are tons of people at work dropping like flies with this nasty cold bug that is going around so I decided to make some teabag holders to hopefully cheer up my sickie friends.  I decided to kill two birds with one stone and challenge everyone to make some cute little tea bag holders and send them to a friend that is feeling a little under the weather.  Here’s a look at what I created…

New Toys!

Prima…..  How I love everything Prima!  Check out these beautiful Prima stamps I scored at The Cutting Garden today….

Amazing huh?  I picked up these three but Kim brought in 6 or 7 different stamps and they arrived today!  I had to  reign myself in because she also brought in some new Martha Stewart punches that I just couldn’t resist.  I can’t wait to start playing with these!

A little Gift Set…

Good Afternoon! *yawn*  Today is my day off and I have had an interesting weekend.  I spent Sunday afternoon teaching a class at The Cutting Garden and they ladies were very good about putting up with me.  I haven’t been feeling great, the Doc has me on a crazy high dose of antibiotics that are making me SOOO sick!  ugh!  Hopefully I am at then end of this… the last 10 days have been very tiring and I will be glad to start feeling back to normal!

Ok enough gab from me…  I have posed another new class for February at The Cutting Garden…  A cute little gift set!  Have a look…

The card was a a bit tricky to get to slide right but in the end it turned out really well!  I made this lovely little note book using my Bind It All and stamped each page with the cute little humming bird.

Home made gifts are really the best way to go in my opinion!

2013 Calendar….

Kim at The Cutting Garden challenged me to create a calendar for a class in January.  I have been turning this over in my mind for a week or more without much success.  Last night at the Crop she gave me a simple unfinished wooden frame and it just all came together for me….

I need to thanks Ms. Lauren from Laurenscraft for teaching me how to make these flowers!  They are amazing and so easy!!!  Thanks again Lauren!  *hugs*  I will be teaching this class on Sunday, January 20th at The Cutting Garden if any of you who are local are interested in coming in to craft with us!!
