Mother’s Day Gift Set…

14 Mar

Good Morning!

It has been ages since I have made a blog post!  I took a little break but I am back crafting up a storm!  I have loads of things to share with you and I will be posting regularly again 🙂

Gift Set 001I put together this pretty little gift set a couple of weeks ago.  I love how feminine it is.

Gift Set 002

The box can hold treats or possibly some jewelery.

Gift Set 003I decorated it with some purchased already made flowers as well as the big white flower that I made using my Cameo.  The butterfly punch is by Martha Stewart and I picked up the Punch Around the Page set as well as this single butterfly from The Cutting Garden.

Gift Set 004I decorated a white gift bag to match the set for the box to go in.  I love hand made gifts, they truly are the best gifts to receive because the recipient knows how much effort you put into gifts like this.

I hope what I have shared with you today inspires you to create something beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Joy…..

24 Jan

Hi All!

I love relaxing in my craft room on Friday nights.  Tony has been busy watching the hockey game, but not too busy to stroll in here to take a look around and make a sarcastic comment on how full my shelves are and how I can’t possibly fit anything else in here.  He mentioned a couple of Joy Clocks that I had on my shelf that I bought a while back with the intention to alter.  So to keep him quiet (er)  hehe!  I decided to dig out my gesso and get one done!

Joy Clock 001Joy Clock 002

Joy Clock 003This was a totally easy project and I got the chance to use my new Tim Holtz Distress Crackle paint that Kim ordered in for me from the Cutting Garden.  I really love how this clock turned out and I doubt I will be able to part with it.  I might take it into work because my new office is desperately in need of some more decorations.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Are you making any special Christmas Gifts?

9 Dec

Well I am!  I love LOVE home made gifts.  To me they are extra special because of the time and effort the person puts into what they made.  To me, that makes it truly a “Gift”.

Good Morning and Happy Monday!!

I had a very busy weekend…. Friday night was my work Christmas party and as usual, I had a total blast!  I danced and laughed all evening, it was a great time!  Then on Saturday night it was shop and crop at The Cutting Garden… Look what I managed to get done….

For Baby….

13 Aug

Hey There!  Yes this is my second post for today, I want to try to get caught up with my posts!  My craft room is becoming a bone yard for cards!

This is a gift set that a friend from work asked me to make for her….

Baby 1Baby 2The sweet little baby image I used for the card and box is by Graphics 45 called Little Darlings.  I am so sad that I only have a little bit of this paper left!  I keep forgetting to ask Kim if she is able to get anymore in.  I love making cards with this paper!

Baby 3Okay…. Now I really am off to get ready for work!  Have a great day!!

Gift Box and Card….

24 Jun

Good Morning!  I can’t believe the weekend is over so quickly and it is Monday again!  I didn’t spend much time in my craft room this weekend, the weather was just too fantastic and I spent most of my time on the deck and tending to my little garden.  I took some lovely pictures of what is blooming here at my place and I will share them with you later. A friend at work asked if I could make a gift box and matching card for a friend of hers that is retiring… Box 1Box 2I used the Martha Stewart Flower Bed border punch to make the lovely band of design paper around the entire box and then wrapped it with pretty ribbon.  I just punched both sides of the strip of design paper, it gives a lovely effect.  The butterflies are also from a Martha Stewart punch. Did that little white frame catch your eye?  That is a new toy I found at The Cutting Garden, It was made from the Martha Stewart Crafter’s Clay Heirloom starter kit.  What a fun little tool this is going to be!  It is a beautiful little set and will work wonderful on any mixed media projects or cards.  LOVE IT!  This kit comes with 4 molds and lots of clay to get you started. Altered Bird House….

7 Jun

Good Morning!  Happy Friday to you all!  I have a couple days off work this week and finally have managed to get my crafty fix!  I spent last night skyping with my lovely friend Lauren and as usual we had a blast!  I stayed up WAYYY too late but oh well, it was well worth it!  She inspired me to make this…..

Bird House 1

The weather isn’t great here in Halifax today so there is no pretty sunshine to add to my photo.  I wanted to take the picture outside because I prefer the natural lighting rather than my light box that sits in my craft room.  I used a couple of pages from my DCWV The French Country Stack paper pad because I love the glittery effect the paper has and it coordinates so well.

Bird House 2

I only have one teeny tiny bird die so I had to hunt through some older paper pads to find this little bird to add to my project.  I made lots of hand made flowers and added some purchased ones as well and of course, lace and ribbon!

Bird House 3I wanted to give the roof lots of dimension so I used my scalloped circle punch to make the cut little shingles then added more flowers.  I am totally in love with this project.  It was SO MUCH FUN to make!!

Bird House 4

Don’t you think this would make just the sweetest housewarming gift?  I absolutely adore it!  Thanks Lauren for giving me the push to give this project at try!!

I might be sorry for making this statement but I am tempted to do a tutorial on this project!  Tony has been gently nudging me to do a video with my new camera. He loves playing around with that thing and I think he would have fun playing Director! LOL!  He is so sweet and helpful like that.  This project might be a bit long for a video but I will have to think on it 🙂  Anyway….

I hope you all have a fantastic day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Altered Box…

30 May

Good Morning Blog Friends!

A co-worker asked me to make an altered box and card for a gift for her aunt.  She asked for dark wood and purple and I was unsure how this would turn out but in the end, I really like it!

Altered Box 003I just used regular craft paint and water to stain the wood and then put a healthy layer of sealer over top of it, once it dried and then started decorating.

Altered Box 004I really enjoyed making this project.  I think I would like to make another one this weekend! Kim recently got some amazing buttons in at The Cutting Garden and I used one in the center of my flower for my card.  Love It!!!

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Mixed Media Creations…

19 Mar

Good Morning!  I am back to work today after a nice long weekend.  I spent yesterday home alone in my craft room playing with my mixed media supplies and researching loads of tutorials that are available on pintrest.  I decided to just abandon all of that and  just apporach it like a card in a layout that I was happy with….

Canvas1Again, I am using My Mind’s Eye paper…. It’s one of my favorites. 🙂  A couple of weeks ago I picked up some scalloped circle punches from Kim at The Cutting Garden because I wanted to make flowers with them and they were a quick and easy tool for me to make up a bunch of them.  I love being able to make my own flowers for my projects because you can always find corresponding paper to make them match your projects perfectly.

Canvas2I used one of my music stamps and stamped all over the flowers and then spritzed them with water and crumpled them up.  They turned out so pretty!  Modeling Paste is one of my favorite things about Mixed Media projects.  I love to use it with stencils and the one I used on this project is called Mini Bubble Doily.  I sprayed it with some 7 gypsies pastel pink color wash once it dried.

Canvas3I wanted to have some type of interesting border to this so I used the Martha Stewart Wild Flowers punch around the page punch set.  I love the pretty soft feeling it gave to this project.  Kim got a new Butterfly punch in at The Cutting Garden by Martha Stewart and I just HAD to have it *roll eyes*  I really wish I could get off this butterfly kick but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen anytime soon! LOL!!!  This punch is really neat… it is a double punch so it punches a solid background butterfly and the another more detailed one for on top.  I have only just begun to play with this punch.. I am sure it will become my new favorite 🙂  The flourish is by Cheery Lynn and I have this die in two different sizes, I use these dies often.

Canvas4So there you have it!  A super fun project… lovely and messy, just how Mixed Media art is supposed to be!  I hope you have a chance to give it a try!  If you ever have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment and I will be happy to answer what I can for you.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day!!!
