Happy Birthday….

17 Jun

Good Afternoon Blog Friends!  Happy Father’s Day!  I am having an extremely relaxing day puttering around the house today and Tony is outside in the strawberry patch happily picking berries 🙂  I have a feeling we will be enjoying strawberry smoothies this afternoon!

I have a card to share with you today…. This is the JustRite Cling Fleur De Lis stamp set I picked up at The Cutting Garden, and along with the Spellbinders Labels Twenty die it makes a lovely card.  The paper is by Recollections, Garden Floral which is my go to paper pad.

Here’s a look at the whole card…

Well I’m off to wash berries and make a smoothie for Tony!

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!

Sending You Birthday Wishes….

15 Jun

Good Morning Blog Friends!  Happy Friday!! This is another quick post before I get ready for work.  I made this cute birthday card using the Spellbinders Twisted Metal Tags die set that I picked up at The Cutting Garden a while back and I am only just beginning to play with it…..

I love using doily’s on my cards, it gives such a soft elegant look.  I lightly stamped on the sentiment panel some little flowers to give it some interest and inked the edges using Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet distress Ink also from The Cutting Garden.

I hope what I have created gives you some inspiration to get inky today!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

All Occasion…

13 Jun

Hello!  I thought I would throw out a quick post before I head off to pack my lunch for work tomorrow.   I have a pretty and simple card to share with you tonight….

It isn’t often that I put together a one layer card but I am very pleased with how this one turned out!  I added this beautiful Cheery Lynn butterfly that I picked up at The Cutting Garden and it seemed like the perfect finishing touch!

I hope everyone has a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Butterfly Note Cards….

12 Jun

Good Morning Blog Friends,  My husband has done it again!  He made me this fantastic new butterfly die cut….

Behind the top paper butterfly is a lovely die cut from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Twisted Metal Tags and Accents I picked up from The Cutting Garden.   Here is a look at the whole card…

These were so much fun to put together, I thought I would try another set using different paper….

This time I used a pretty glittery butterfly for the center using a Martha Stewart punch all over the page punch I borrowed from my friend Carol.

These would make great gift tags but fit into a regular size envelope and could be given as a card on their own.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Gardening… another hobby I truly enjoy….

11 Jun

I can not believe it’s almost the middle of June!  I feel like I am totally behind with my gardening.  I have pretty much abandoned all annual plants except for a few veggies that I like to plat each year such as tomato’s, green and yellow beans and I try to grow beets each year especially for the beat greens but I have never had them work out for me yet but I am going to give it another go this year! I thought I would post some pics of my feeble gardening efforts so far this year…. My sister Joann gave me this Hosta a couple of years ago and I can not believe in only two years it has turned into a complete monster!!! I LOVE IT!  She had one at her home and I was totally in love with it so I was so excited the day she showed up with this lovely present for me and I am thrilled that It is doing so well!  Thanks Joann! 😀

In the front of my house I have the most beautiful Weigelia shrub that is also Huge!  It is about 10 feet tall and is pretty much in full bloom right now… this shrub is so easy to care for, all I need to do is cut it back each year to promote new growth and it blooms beautifully every year!

I know this is a beautiful flower… its a massive peony plant I also have in the front of my house but It is absolutely my least favorite plant.  I keep threatening to dig it out each year because THE day it decides to bloom, it will always rain and rain hard that day and totally destroy the blooms! LOL!!! I usually only have about 3 hours to spend with the big beautiful red blooms and then they are gone.  *sigh*  what a shame huh?  I guess I can enjoy this almost bloomed stage for a couple of days and after seeing how lovely this picture turned out, the peony is safe for another year!  Sorry Mom… It was almost yours again this year! LOL!

My Strawberries!!  I Love LOVE my strawberry beds!  Tony has built me all raised beds for my Veggie gardening as I have two dogs and lets face it…. we do not want the dogs traipsing through the veggie garden….  I spend a lot of time and effort on these beds and I don’t want my precious plants trampled!!

It’s June 11th and we are already picking berries!  Here are hundreds to ripen and the plants are healthy throwing off runners now so I will be preparing for next years crops, poking all those lovely babies back in the ground.  Strawberries are so easy to grow, they just keep giving you new plants and they keep coming back year after year! 🙂

Since I have had fantastic luck with Strawberries, I thought I would give blueberries a try.  This is the second year for my high bush blueberry plant.  The directions said the first year most of the growth takes place underground so hopefully it will sprout nice and high this summer.  I loaded the bed with lots of fresh compost that I have made over the last year in my back yard compost so my fingers are crossed!!! 🙂

Several years ago my children bought me this snowball bush for Mother’s day….  It has had a hard start….  my son’s car has practically ran it over twice but it’s a survivor!  it is totally thriving!  It’s about 6 or 7 feet tall now and I am going to have to seriously cut it back once I figure out what is the right time of year to trim this shrub.

This is the last picture I have for today.  This is of our beautiful cherry tree in our back yard.  This is my daughter Vicki’s tree and it produces the sweetest cherries!  This year we are going to have a ton of them if we can keep the birds away!  My friend Lauren gave me the idea to hang something covered in foil in the tree, she says the birds don’t like it so we are going to give it a try.  Thanks Lauren!

Well, that’s it for now… Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the tour of my yard!

Butterflies….

11 Jun

Hello Again Blog Friends….  I am really enjoying this butterfly die cut my Husband made for me….Doesn’t it make a fun little card?  I find it is perfect for using up all the wild bold patterned paper I have stashed and haven’t quite figured out what to use it for.   I have loads of paper to go through so you will be seeing this die cut quite a bit more in the future!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thinking of you….

Hi Again Blog Friends…  I have another set of cards to share with you today….

This is one of my favorite Memory Box dies called Wild Blooms, there is just something very elegant about a white on white card. I picked this die at The Cutting Garden, Kim has a fantastic selection in stock of these beautiful dies.

I stamped the sentiment from the Flourishes Calla Lilles stamp set.

I hope you are having a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Magnolias…

11 Jun

Good Afternoon Blog Friends…. I apologize for not posting as frequently as I usually do but I haven’t been feeling all that great lately and needed a bit of a break.  I have some projects to share with you and I will try to get caught up on posting over the next couple of days….

I have learned a new technique using chalks that I absolutely Love!  I really do not enjoy coloring at all but this was really fun and easy and I think the shading turned out fantastic!!!  Check this out….

I picked up my Classic Chalks – Earth Tone Shades at The Cutting Garden and if you struggle with coloring Chalks might just be the solution you have been looking for!

I used two shades of pink… One from my Earth Tones set and the lighter one is from my Pastel Shades set of Chalks.  Both turned out beautifully and I will be definitely doing more coloring in the future.  The stamp I used for these cards is by Flourishes – Magnolias that I also picked up at The Cutting Garden.

I hope everyone is having a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Vicki!

8 Jun

Yesterday was my lovely Daughter, Vicki’s 23rd Birthday and I decided to make her a special keepsake…..

This is my second attempt at making a book, they are a lot of work but SO worth it!  This book is the ultimate use of my Hello Doily stamp as I have stamped it and heat embossed it several times throughout the project….

This is going to be a very long post because I want to give you a peek at all the pages 🙂

And the back cover….

As you can see, this Doily Stamp is going to be very well used! LOL!!!  I used Tim Holtz Walnut Distressed Ink on all the edges and I love the effect that this ink gives.  I am quickly becoming a distressed ink fan.

I hope my project has inspired you to find a bit of time to create!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Adorable Sweet U….

Good Afternoon Blog Friends….

I have a new fun gift card project to share with you.  Bear with me this is going to be a rather long post….All the design paper used for this project is by My Minds Eye which is one of my ALL time favorites! 😀  The beautiful butterfly is by Hero Arts and it is a stamp and die cut set that Kim is now stocking at The Cutting Garden.

The rolled flower is the oh so popular die by Die-namics Royal Rolled Rose.

This is quite a bulky project so I thought it would be nice to design an envelope/card box for it to fit in….

I absolutely loved making this project and will be happy to teach it to anyone interested at The Cutting Garden!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
