Hello again Blog friends, you are going to have to bear with me for this post because it’s going to be another really long one! A friend at work asked me to make her daughter a book for graduation and she asked that I make part of it nautical themed so here is what I came up with for her….
I am totally enjoying this book making kick that I am on! It is so much fun making something different!
It would take me forever to list all the supplies I used for this book but if you have any questions I will make sure that I reply to your comments. The paper line I used is from The Cutting Garden KaiserCraft Sweet Nothings Collection and Kim has this in stock. It is absolutely beautiful!
I couldn’t resist heat embossing the Stampin’ Up! Hello Doily stamp…. I am obsessed with that stamp! LOL!!! I added a beautiful pin, this is one of my favorite pages, I love how this one turned out. Its great to be able to just randomly decorate each page anyway you want to. I told Mary Anne that I would give her lots of places in the book to write little notes to her daughter so I added lots of tags for her to write on.
When you untie the bow on this page it opens up and she can write what ever she likes on it or she can stick small pictures in it.
Here are some more tags that I attached with a brass brad and they swivel so she can be moved to read the messages on each one.
What’s a book with out butterflies? Need I say more? lol!
Mary Anne’s daughter loves sailing so I added some pages dedicated to what she loves, this is a beautiful stamp and unfortunately the picture doesn’t do it justice, I used chalks on the clouds and water.. it turned out quite lovely.
More nice little tags she can used to write on, I put several in as other family members may want to write notes of encouragement to her.
This is a butterfly I had left over from a class I did a while back and the colors fit in perfectly so I couldn’t resist the chance to use it.
And finally, this is the back cover *happy sigh* This was such a fun project to make, I loved working on every single page!

Lisa I totally LOVE the book!!! I have one of these blank books(actually I have bought several!), but have been totally too overwhelmed at beginning that I just sit and look at them not knowing where to start!!!! I would love to know what your approach is from the beginning. The blank book just scares me!!!! But you, lady, are obviously not scared of anything!!! Please help me know how to get started!!!
Hey there Sam! Thanks for your comment, I just start with bare chipboard and build each page like a card. I take one page at a time and decorate them. I tend to use one line of paper or matching colors for the whole book so that it all flows nicely. I pick a theme… birthday or what ever and use my favorite punches and embellishments 🙂 If you take it one page at a time it is not at all scary! LOL!!! Come on! you can do it!! 😀
