Another Mixed Media Attempt….

27 Jan

Good Morning!  I am having a fantastic weekend!  I spent some time at The Cutting Garden yesterday visiting with all the crafty ladies.  It was so inspiring to see their creations, I went back home and Carol and I set to work on getting crafty ourselves!  I have been trying to bend my mind around this addicting hobby of Mixed Media… My mind is just reeling with the endless possibilities that you can create!!!  Here is one of the canvases’ I created last night.

Smile 1I love the fact that I already had everything I needed in my craft room to just go at this project!  With mixed media, the sky’s the limit!  You can use paints, inks, punches, stamps, buttons, twine… what ever you want… it all works!

Smile 2I picked up this lovely Dylusions stamp set at The Cutting Garden and every sentiment will be used… Don’t you just love it when you love every sentiment in one set?!  This set is called The Right Words.  It is totally Amazing!

Smile 3

I dove into my scrap bin and found some pretty paper to punch out the flowers and arranged them the way I wanted and then just rough painted the stems with deco art acrylic paint.  I sealed the entire piece with Sparkle Mod Podge to give it a lovely glittery finish.  This was such a fun project…. I loved every minute of it!

I hope what I shared with you today inspires you to create something beautiful that makes you smile on this inside.  Everything about this canvas makes me smile!

Have a great day!!

A little Gift Set…

21 Jan

Good Afternoon! *yawn*  Today is my day off and I have had an interesting weekend.  I spent Sunday afternoon teaching a class at The Cutting Garden and they ladies were very good about putting up with me.  I haven’t been feeling great, the Doc has me on a crazy high dose of antibiotics that are making me SOOO sick!  ugh!  Hopefully I am at then end of this… the last 10 days have been very tiring and I will be glad to start feeling back to normal!

Ok enough gab from me…  I have posed another new class for February at The Cutting Garden…  A cute little gift set!  Have a look…

Class 1Class 2Class 3The card was a a bit tricky to get to slide right but in the end it turned out really well!  I made this lovely little note book using my Bind It All and stamped each page with the cute little humming bird.

Home made gifts are really the best way to go in my opinion!

I hope you all are having a great day and thanks so much for stopping by!

Mixed Media… my first attempt…

14 Jan

Hi Blog Friends…. I have a little project to share with you tonight, that I created on the weekend during a crafty night with some friends at The Cutting Garden.  This is my first attempt at anything that resembles Mixed Media and to be honest, I am a bit on the fence with it.  I am sure I will have another go at it, but I think I need to learn a bit more.  Have a look…

Mixed Media 001Mixed Media 002Mixed Media 003Sorry about the glare in the picture, I think if I do anymore of these I am going to have to build a bigger light box!  For this project I did loads of inking, and used Modeling Paste with stencils (LOVED THAT PART!)  The modeling paste is very cool!  And of course, I couldn’t say a project was complete with out butterflies and flowers! LOL!!!

Well that is my latest attempt at something new….  I think my real interest is going to be with Art Journaling…  that will be my next project I think. 🙂

I hope everyone has a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

2013 Calendar….

Kim at The Cutting Garden challenged me to create a calendar for a class in January.  I have been turning this over in my mind for a week or more without much success.  Last night at the Crop she gave me a simple unfinished wooden frame and it just all came together for me….

CalendarI need to thanks Ms. Lauren from Laurenscraft for teaching me how to make these flowers!  They are amazing and so easy!!!  Thanks again Lauren!  *hugs*  I will be teaching this class on Sunday, January 20th at The Cutting Garden if any of you who are local are interested in coming in to craft with us!!

Thanks so much for popping by!!

Gift Bag & Card….

6 Jan

Good Morning and Happy Sunday!

It’s still really cold here in Halifax and we are expecting over 10 cm of snow tonight so it looks like we will be spending our evening shoveling!  ugh!  I hate shoveling!  Oh well, no point complaining!  We are just going to have to get it done!  Over at The Cutting Garden, Mel picked a wonderful sketch for this month’s challenge!  As soon as I saw it, I dove right in and made this pretty gift set to provide some inspiration for all of those who would like to play along….

Gift Bag and CardOnce I had it finished I decided to post a class for later this month.  The stamp set I used is Blooming with Kindness by Stampin’ Up.

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Lets try this again….

5 Jan

Hello Again!  Sorry, for those of you who have an email subscription to my blog you are probably going to get more than one email from me each day for the next little while, while I catch up on my posting.

This is another masculine card that I put together a while back.  I like it much better than the one I posted earlier today.

Boat 001This is a really simple card with lots of layers.  Masculine cards are so difficult to embellish!  This is my all time favorite boat stamp made by PSX.  I picked this beauty up at a yard sale that The Cutting Garden had last year.  What a find huh???

Okay, I am off to get ready to start my day!  I am itching to go over to the store to hang out with Kim and all the crafty ladies that always pop by on Saturday!

Have a great day!!

Not sure how Masculine this is but….

5 Jan

Good Morning Blog Friends!  When I made these cards I intended to them to be Masculine but I am not sure that’s what I ended up with! LOL!  Oh well… it is what it is…

Tree 001

For all of December I was such a lazy blogger but I have decided to get myself back into crafty mode and get some of my back log of posting done!  I have more than a dozen cards and projects all ready to post, but I never seen to get around to posting them!  I am going to try to catch up this month!

For these cards I used my favorite Martha Stewart Punch Around the Page set called Double Arches.  Tonight I am off to The Cutting Garden for Crop night!  I can’t wait to kick back with all our crafty friends and catch up!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Clean and Simple Friday…

4 Jan

We have made it to Friday!  It has been a short work week, but after getting through Christmas and New Year, that is probably a good thing.  This is a Pinterest inspired card that I have made to play along with Ms. Lauren’s challenge to me.  She is also doing Clean and Simple today!  Hop over to Lauren’s Blog to check out the lovely creation she has made!

CASThis was a very quick and easy card to make but I really love the simplicity of it.  I am off to The Cutting Garden tomorrow night for Crop Night which is so fun!  Hanging out with all the crafty ladies, checking out all the wonderful creations they are making.  It’s going to be another great weekend!

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Good Morning!  Happy Thursday!

Lauren and I are at it again, showing our projects we have crafted together!  For today’s project we have decided to do something a little different.  We decided to make some mini clip board which I will find useful on my desk at work 🙂  Again my project today features a lovely Christmas gift from Lauren… check out this beautiful hand made Dragonfly Lauren sent to me…

Mini Clip Board 1Don’t you just totally love him!  I am so lucky, Lauren has offered to teach me how to make them, they make such a lovely embellishments for my projects… I am going to make loads of these little guys!

In the background you will see I have used some of the fantastic paper Kim at The Cutting Garden has! She has a fantastic sale on her design paper this week, you should check it out, I know I will be! 😀

Here is a look at the whole clipboard…

Mini Clip Board 2I stamped each page with “thanks a bunch!”  I am always writing notes to my co-workers so this little project will really come in handy for me.

I hope you all have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!
